Tom Tucker is the main news anchor for Quahog's local news station, Channel 5 News, alongside cohosts Joyce Kinney and/or Diane Simmons, field reporter Tricia Takanawa, and meteorologist Ollie Williams. He is known for his overly dramatic newscasting style, distinctive mustache, and often self-centered personality.

Tom Tucker sports his usual news anchor uniform; a navy blue suit jacket and pants, over a white button-up shirt and a simple red tie, with brown dress shoes which are only rarely visible.
Tom also wears short brown side-swept hair, as well as a bushy well-manicured mustache, which has become synonymous with the man himself. He is often told he looks like Ted Lasso, which is a fact he dislikes being reminded of.

-Tom’s Catch Phrase
Tom Tucker's personality is characterized by his narcissism, vanity, and dramatic flair, particularly in his role as a news anchor. He often exhibits a strong sense of self-importance and seeks the spotlight, both on and off the air. This verbally-instigative attitude has earned him the moniker “Tom Fucker”, which he’s adopted and made part of his personality.
Tom’s on-air persona is marked by a theatrical delivery of news stories, emphasizing sensationalism and incredulity over journalistic integrity. He will frequently torpedo news segments he finds boring or less important in favor of a pet issue he’d prefer to discuss, much to the ire of his fellow hosts and reporters, but apparently to the appreciation of his audience. For example, on one occasion Tom derailed a segment to discuss the fact turtles have tails—a fact which he just learned about on the air.
Off-camera, Tom's interactions with other characters reveal his egotistical and sometimes shallow nature. He can be insensitive and self-absorbed, prioritizing his career and image and personal entertainment above other considerations. However, despite these traits, Tom occasionally shows glimpses of a more complex personality, including insecurities and challenges in his personal life, such as a poor work-life balance.
Tom has also, on several occasions, lashed out violently at his cohosts and viewers, including attempting to poison Diane’s coffee with Cyanide on at least one occasion. He is open about the fact he prefers Joyce Kinney, an interim reporter who stands in for Diane occasionally, to Diane as a cohost, and has accused Peter Griffin of for example vandalism, destruction of other people's property, and in particular sexual harassment, many times on the program.
